Empowering communities through compassionate service and transformative support

Declaration of Faith

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of Man and the Son of God, sent by the Father to redeem humanity.

I believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day with all power in His hands.

I believe that through His death and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.

I believe that God is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and that all things were made by Him and for Him.

I believe in the Holy Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—three in One.

I believe the Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible, and living Word of God, written by men under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

I believe in the New Covenant, established through the blood of Jesus Christ, which grants us access to a personal relationship with God, freedom from sin, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

I believe that the Holy Spirit empowers, guides, convicts, comforts, and dwells within every believer.

I believe in the return of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life for all who believe in Him.

I believe that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works, and that our lives should reflect the love, truth, and character of Christ.

I believe in the power of prayer, the fellowship of believers, and the commission to share the Gospel with all nations.

I believe that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lessons discussed in Bible Study

Lesson’s 1-3

This will close our first week of the lesson called Jesus Calling. Here’s a recap of what we’ve discussed in this 3-part series based on Luke 5:1–11, the powerful moment when Simon Peter encountered Jesus, leading to a miraculous catch of fish after Jesus instructed him to cast his nets again, even after an unproductive night.

Lesson 1

1. The Setting – A Routine Day Becomes Extraordinary

Peter and the others were simply going about their usual work—fishing. It was a normal, uneventful day until Jesus stepped into their situation. What was routine became miraculous. This shows us how Jesus often shows up in the ordinary and transforms it into something extraordinary when we obey His word.

2. Peter’s Reaction

After witnessing the miracle, Peter fell at Jesus’ feet and said, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” In this moment, he recognized Jesus’ divine authority and holiness, and became deeply aware of his own sinfulness. This marked a pivotal point for Peter—a deep sense of humility and unworthiness in the presence of Jesus.

3. Jesus’ Response

Rather than rejecting Peter, Jesus reassured him, saying, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” Jesus called Peter into a new purpose, showing that He doesn’t focus on our flaws but invites us to walk with Him and be part of His mission.

4. The Transformation

As a result, Peter, along with James and John, left everything behind and followed Jesus. This marks the beginning of Peter’s journey as a disciple, moving from being a simple fisherman to becoming one of Jesus’ closest followers. This moment sparked a chain of events that radically transformed his life.

Lesson 2 – Encountering Jesus Transforms Our Perspective

We then discussed how encountering Jesus changes the way we view Him and ourselves, just like it did for Peter. We focused on Luke 5:9–10, which captures Peter’s astonishment at the miracle and reveals something deeper: Jesus was calling him into a new purpose. This life-changing encounter showed us:

1. Unexpected Provision – Jesus showed up after a long, fruitless night and turned the situation around, but more importantly, He transformed their hearts.

2. From Fear to Purpose – Jesus tells Peter, “Do not be afraid”—replacing fear with mission.

3. A New Calling – “You will catch men”—Peter’s life would now be about reaching people, not just catching fish.

Lesson 3 – Jesus Calls You to Join His Mission

In Luke 5:10–11, Jesus says, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” When they brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.

We saw a consistent pattern in this journey:

• The Miracle → The Encounter → The Mission

This shows us that Jesus’ calling is not about our gifts, qualifications, or abilities—it’s about partnering with Him, experiencing His power, and then sharing the good news with others. Jesus calls us into His mission so that we too can become fishers of people, drawing others into a life-changing relationship with Him.
